 The Problem:

Today, unsafe drinking water will claim 1,328 lives.*

Contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to the transmission of diseases such as cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, and polio. Absent, inadequate, or inappropriately managed water and sanitation services expose individuals to preventable health risks. Water gathered downstream from livestock or collected from roofs, poses these risks to those who consume it. Unfortunately, that’s how most people in Nyeri, Kenya collect their water.

 The Solution:

To combat waterborne pathogens, we are providing water purification tablets to people who lack access to safe drinking water in Nyeri, Kenya. $5.30 can buy one hundred, 67mg tablets, each of which can purify 10 liters of water.

Our team member, Geoffrey, who was born and raised in Nyeri, works on the ground with local leaders to identify families most at risk and distributes tablets through the local Church, thus making Christ the spring from which both physical and spiritual water flow (John 4:14).

You’ve heard of turning water into wine, but have you ever tried turning coffee into water? By building the water purification cost into each wholesale bag of Traveling Bard’s “Neighborly” roast, we are able to make the promise that for every cup of coffee you drink, you’re sending an equal amount of safe water to someone on the other side of the planet.
